The military wing of the radical Hamas movement, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for shelling northern areas of Israel with salvo rocket systems “City”. This is said in a statement of the formation published on the Telegram channel.
It states that militants fired 20 rockets from the territory of southern Lebanon towards the Israeli army barracks in the Shomerah settlement.
„This operation was carried out in response to the massacres of civilians by the occupation regime in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank”, the text notes.
The last time Palestinian militants launched an armed incursion from southern Lebanon was on January 17. Then a rocket was fired at the village of Liman in Western Galilee.
