President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he had a meeting on the security and humanitarian situation in Russia's Kursk region, where the Ukrainian army is carrying out unprecedented cross-border offensive, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"Security, humanitarian aid, establishing a military administration if necessary," the head of state wrote in the "Telegram" application, publishing a video of his meeting with high-ranking representatives of Kiev.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk announced that Kiev is planning corridors for the evacuation of civilians from the Russian Kursk region to Ukraine and vice versa, Reuters informed. In support of local citizens, humanitarian missions will also be organized by providing access to the area of international charitable organizations, she added.
In order to realize these intentions, Ukraine is creating a "security zone" in the Kursk region, Vereshchuk specified.
Ukraine said its troops involved in its major cross-border offensive in Russia's Kursk region had advanced one to two kilometers since the start of the day and had completed operations to clear the Russian city of Suja from Moscow's forces. Kiev surprised Moscow by sending thousands of troops into western Russia's Kursk region last week. The surprise operation gave Ukraine its biggest battlefield success since 2022, after months of being on the defensive.
