Israel conducts operation in northern West Bank, killed

Gaza cease-fire talks continue in Qatar

The Israeli army announced tonight that it is conducting an operation in Jenin and Tulkarem, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, and the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that two people were killed in the operation, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

"Security forces have launched a counter-terrorism operation in Jenin and Tulkarem," the Israeli army said in a statement.

The Palestinian ministry said two men, aged 25 and 39, were killed by the "occupation forces" in Jenin.

The group "Islamic Jihad", an ally of the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas", condemned the "massive aggression against the cities and camps in the northern part of the occupied West Bank". According to the group, Israel "seeks to shift the burden of the conflict onto the occupied West Bank" with the intention of "annexing".

The war between Israel and "Hamas" erupted after an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian movement on Israeli territory on October 7 last year, AFP recalls.

Meanwhile, negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza continue in Qatar. The information came from a US official after the previous round of negotiations ended in Cairo amid growing tensions in the region, AFP reported, quoted by dariknews.bg.

US President Joe Biden's Middle East chief Brett McGurk is in Doha for talks aimed at ending the 10-month conflict between Israel and Hamas, the unnamed source said.
