Kiev may resume attempts to regain territories occupied by Russia during the war if the peace agreement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine does not include a clause for their official recognition as part of Russia, especially Crimea, the Financial Times newspaper reported.
“An agreement that precludes formal recognition by the US (or any other country) of Ukraine's territorial losses would give Kiev a chance to fight back, or at least try to regain its territory by other means“, the publication says.
On April 24, the British government announced that talks on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine at the level of foreign ministers, which were to be held in London the day before, had been postponed.
The meeting was held at a lower level. The US was represented by Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg.
According to The Daily Telegraph, in London the US was to present a seven-point plan for resolving the conflict, including Washington's recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.
Trump later called demands that Ukraine return its lost territories, including Crimea, absurd.
