Chinese Leader Xi Jinping met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing today, the Chinese Xinhua News Agency reported. The occasion is Lukashenko's three-day visit, which is his 15th visit to China, BTA reports.

His last visit to the country was in December 2023.

At the beginning of the meeting, Xi congratulated Lukashenko on his re-election in the presidential elections in Belarus in January and stressed that the two countries are "true friends and good partners", connected by relations built on sincerity and trust.

The Chinese leader said that relations between Beijing and Minsk are developing as strategic and long-term. He stressed that the two countries are strengthening cooperation in all areas and that China is willing to work with Belarus to promote the sustainable development of bilateral relations based on the principle of “win-win“.

Xi called for closer coordination within international formats such as the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to counter hegemony and pressure, as well as to safeguard international justice.

Lukashenko, for his part, thanked China for its long-term support and noted that every visit he has made to the country is distinguished by “true friendship“. He stressed that Beijing is an example of upholding multilateralism and opposing the unipolar world model, sanctions and external pressure.

“China will not allow the world order to be destroyed. Many countries are convinced of this“, the Belarusian president was quoted as saying by BelTA news agency.
