Kim pledged unconditional support for Russia's position on Ukraine and other international issues. He stressed that his country will unconditionally support Russia's position and its foreign policy.
North Korea will responsibly abide by the articles of the treaty between the two countries, Kim Jong-un noted.
The North Korean leader and Sergei Shoigu also discussed strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and mutual cooperation in various fields.
The treaty between North Korea and Russia was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang last year and includes a pact for mutual defense and immediate military assistance if either side is faced with armed aggression.
