Romania does not have its own strategy for the Black Sea, the newspaper “Adeverul“ writes in its article on the topic. The publication refers to the opinion of Alina Akim-Inaye, who specializes in security, defense and geoeconomic issues in the Black Sea region, BTA reported.
According to her, this speaks not only about the lack of content in the country's foreign policy, but also about the level of state intervention.
“Although Bulgaria is facing a real political crisis, it is ahead of Romania in many respects. And when it comes to the Black Sea strategy, the neighbors south of the Danube are in a much better position, if only because they have finalized their own strategy and know how to pursue their interests. Romania, on the other hand, is still waiting“, compares Alina Akim-Inaye.
She believes that there is a certain competition and rivalry between the two countries to attract investments and to play the largest possible role in the region.
“Romania and Bulgaria are also in a fierce competition to become the Black Sea center for NATO, the United States and the European Union“, she adds. She emphasizes that there can be no Black Sea strategy without the Danube and the river's mouths.
