Moscow Speaks: Israel Shows Zero Will for Peace

President Putin Made Clear That Russia Is Ready to Provide Mediation Services If Needed

Moscow sees no willingness on the part of Israel to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Iran, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, emphasizing that Russia has offered a mediation role, but so far there has been no response from either side.

"President Putin has made clear that if needed, Russia is ready to provide mediation services. However, for now we are observing a lack of desire, at least on the part of Israel, to move towards a peaceful path or to use such opportunities," Peskov said.

The statement comes against the backdrop of the ongoing air campaign between Israel and Iran, which has entered its sixth day and has prompted international calls for de-escalation. Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Moscow was ready to provide "all possible mediation services" if officially requested by Tehran or Tel Aviv. "Both sides are informed of this readiness," Rudenko said.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump, who left the G-7 summit in Canada early due to the crisis in the Middle East, commented in an interview with ABC News that he did not rule out the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin acting as a mediator. "I have nothing against it. Putin called me and we talked for a long time about this issue," Trump said.
