Russia has expressed serious concern that its diplomats in Baku have been unable to contact Russian journalists who are also citizens of the Russian Federation for more than two hours. This was stated by the official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova to TASS, BTA reports.
“We are concerned that for more than two hours now, Russian diplomats in Baku have been unable to contact journalists who are citizens of Russia“, Zakharova emphasized.
According to her, employees of the consular department of the Russian embassy are not granted the right to meet with journalists and are not provided with any information about the reasons for this restriction. “We are concerned about their safety“, she added.
Zakharova specified that the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan has already informed the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service. “No response has been received so far“, the MFA spokesperson concluded.
