The European Parliament today rejected a no-confidence vote against the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen, Euronews reported.
So far, there have been eight no-confidence votes against the EC in the EP's history, and none of them have gathered the required majority. This was the first vote against a commission led by Von der Leyen.
Ursula von der Leyen and the European Commission survived a no-confidence vote in the European Parliament, with 175 MEPs voting in favour of the no-confidence vote, 360 against and 18 abstentions.
Von der Leyen, who was not present in the plenary chamber during the vote, is safe for now. But the vote undoubtedly weakened her and left questions about support for her agenda in the European Parliament.
