The Ukrainian armed forces have a high-tech Swedish weapon that analysts have called “a nightmare for the Russian army“, writes Focus.de.
It is the Archer artillery mount, designed for rapid deployment and high rate of fire, improving Ukraine's artillery capabilities.
These advanced self-propelled howitzers have a firing range of 30 to 50 kilometers, depending on the type of shell used.
Sweden recently announced the provision of new military aid packages to Kiev, of particular importance are ten additional Archer self-propelled artillery guns. They have already been in service with Ukraine since January 2023. and have proven their effectiveness.
The high mobility and rapid readiness of the guns make them particularly suitable for dynamic combat environments. A significant advantage is the “shoot and run” tactic, in which the gun quickly attacks the target and then changes its position to avoid enemy counterattacks.
Thanks to an automated system, the Archer guns are ready for use in just 20 seconds. They can fire over 20 shells in three minutes, while maintaining high accuracy thanks to advanced guidance technologies.
Ukrainian soldiers from the 45th Artillery Brigade are already using these advanced systems and are clearly demonstrating what they are capable of with videos on social networks. The Ukrainian military says Swedish artillery is significantly superior to that of the Russian enemy.
Ukrainian media reports that the Swedish howitzer is decisively destroying Russian tanks on the southern front of Ukraine. The ultra-modern self-propelled howitzer has become a nightmare for the Russians, who are losing a large amount of military equipment on the front - in addition to manpower. According to Kiev's data, which have not been confirmed by independent Western sources, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost over 30,000 artillery systems, 23,000 armored combat vehicles, over 11,000 tanks, as well as 340 helicopters.
The Swedish supply of Archer systems is aimed at strengthening Ukraine's artillery capabilities in response to its urgent defense needs. Ukraine is receiving far less Western weapons than it needs to win the war, which would involve liberating the territories occupied by the Russian army.
