The Ukrainian army reported that it had participated in 122 clashes with Russian forces invading Ukraine yesterday, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
"The Russian occupiers carried out two missile strikes with 5 missiles, 53 air strikes with 71 cruise missiles and used 1,427 kamikaze drones. They also carried out 4,327 artillery attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas," it reported on "Facebook" The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The fiercest fighting was around the city of Pokrovsk, where Russian units launched 36 attacks from different directions, the army said.
The information cannot be independently verified, DPA notes.
Pokrovsk is a strategically important transport hub in the western part of the Donetsk region and has been almost completely destroyed. Ukrainian forces have managed to hold off the Russian offensive. The Russians are advancing north and south of the city, creating a threat of siege, DPA adds.
Ukraine has been fighting the Russian invasion since February 2022 with the help of its Western allies.
