Former Labour leader and independent MP Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed he has launched a new political party, the BBC reported.
Corbyn has released a joint statement with Zara Sultana, who recently left the Labour Party to become an independent, saying: "It's time for a new kind of political party - one that belongs to you".
The pair are encouraging people to register to get involved in building a "genuine, democratic alternative, rooted in communities across the country".
Calling the current political system "rigged", they are inviting supporters to a founding conference "to be part of the founding process".
Child poverty, giant corporations "amassing wealth from growing bills" and a government that claims to "no money for the poor, but billions for war" are among the issues highlighted in the letter.
"We cannot accept these injustices and neither should you", it added.
Although the website is named "Your Party", this appears to be only a temporary name, as the site also says "Your Party - and the new party that is developing from it".
"Your Party" is also not registered with the Electoral Commission, which is required to field candidates for elections. The new party is believed to be aiming to field candidates in local elections next year.
The letter gives an idea of the policy direction supporters can expect, talking about "massive redistribution of wealth and power. This means taxing the richest in our society.
Sultana was one of a dozen left-wing Labour MPs who called for a wealth tax, including before the Chancellor's first budget.
The letter also called for the nationalisation of energy, water, rail and postal services, keeping the National Health Service (NHS) "free from privatisation" and "investing in a massive public housing programme".
The new party supports measures to tackle climate change, protect the right to protest and end arms sales to Israel.
Corbyn was expelled from the Labour Party in 2020 but successfully ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 general election.
He has since coordinated a small group of four independent MPs who share similar views on the Israel-Gaza conflict and are expected to form the core of any new party.
