US President Donald Trump doesn't want the National Guard to stay on city streets "indefinitely". This was stated by Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with USA Today, quoted by CNN.

"We don't want to put National Guardsmen on the streets of our cities indefinitely. We just want to make these streets safer," Vance said. The comments come as the administration has escalated its crackdown on crime in Washington in recent days and threatened action in other major US cities. "I'm not a dictator, I'm just stopping crime," Trump insisted on Tuesday during a cabinet meeting as he weighed in on the fallout from his actions in Washington. "There wouldn't be an Olympic Games in California if I hadn't sent the troops." He stressed that the US would become even safer under his administration.
