A toddler died after an SUV crashed through the window of a daycare center north of Toronto shortly before pick-up time on Wednesday (local time), the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
York Regional Police said the child who died was 1 year and 5 months old. Six other children aged 18 months to 3 were injured in the crash. One of them is in critical condition.
Police said at a news conference that three employees of the daycare center in Richmond Hill, Ont., were also injured.
Authorities said a 70-year-old driver has been arrested. Police do not believe it was a deliberate act.
There were 96 children in the building at the time of the incident.
