Toyota is discontinuing the base version of the Supra with a four-cylinder engine. Betting only on an inline six - 1

Toyota's decision, coming only after three years of the existence of the four-cylinder Supra, it may seem strange, but it is probably driven by pragmatism.

Although there are no official sales statistics for the Supra with different engines, it is likely that buyers in North America (the main market for the model) preferred the more powerful six-cylinder variant. The price difference between the 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter versions was small (just $840), but the difference in performance and driving experience was significant.

Toyota Supra is now available exclusively with the powerful 3.0-liter B58 turbo engine that produces an impressive 387 hp. and 500 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox, for true driving enthusiasts, and an 8-speed ZF automatic, providing maximum acceleration.

It is curious that the manual gearbox received a “intelligent“ crankshaft speed adjustment system, which makes gear shifting smoother and more comfortable. In addition, the "manual" Toyota Supra is equipped with a reinforced clutch that can withstand high loads.

Remember that the Toyota Supra is essentially a BMW twin: the 3.0-liter B58 engine and both gearboxes are the same as those used in the G87-generation BMW M2. This explains the high quality and reliability of these units. In North America, the 2024 Toyota Supra starts at $57,335 for the base model, with the top-of-the-line 3.0 Premium starting at $60,495.
