The market capitalization of silver has reached 3.54 trillion USD, overtaking the value of the American company Microsoft. This puts silver in fifth place in market capitalization, according to data from Companiesmarketcap (which calculates the market capitalization of public companies, precious metals, cryptocurrencies and mutual funds).
Gold is in first place with a market capitalization of 29.92 trillion USD. Followed by Nvidia (4.292 trillion USD), Apple (4.067 trillion USD) and Alphabet, which controls Google (3.734 trillion USD). Microsoft's market capitalization is 3.529 trillion USD USD.
Silver's market capitalization is calculated by multiplying the current price of silver by the expected amount of silver mined to date - approximately 1,751,000 metric tons of silver. These figures are approximate. A significant portion of the silver has been lost or destroyed through industrial use, according to Companiesmarketcap.
As of 15:00 Bulgarian time, the price of silver futures for delivery in March 2026 on the Comex exchange (a division of the New York Mercantile Exchange) had decreased by 0.86% to $63.045 per troy ounce. The current all-time high for the precious metal was set on December 12 at $65.085 per troy ounce. Since the beginning of the year, the futures price has more than doubled – by 115.24%.
