G20 discusses economic impact of Iran war - 1

Representatives of the financial departments and central banks of the Group of Twenty (G20) discussed in Washington the economic impact of the US-Israeli war with Iran, the US Treasury Department announced.

As I recall, the meeting took place as part of the spring session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB). The parties considered “a range of issues - the economic impact of the conflict in the Middle East, including on agricultural markets, value chains and the fertilizer sector“, the US Treasury Department noted. Many participants at the meeting spoke in favor of removing restrictions on fertilizer exports and welcomed the efforts of the IMF and the World Bank to coordinate action in the context of the current crisis.

The United States, which holds the G20 presidency this year, intends to hold additional discussions in the coming weeks on issues related to food and fertilizer trade, the U.S. Treasury Department added.
