During this week, the movement of the prices of grain goods on the world stock markets continued mainly in a downward direction, report the experts of the Sofia Commodity Exchange (SSB), BTA reported.
The FOB price of bread wheat in Chicago fell $7 to $216 a tonne, with France the exception, adding €2 to €202 a tonne. Ukraine and Russia dropped quotes by $5 to $195 per ton and $230 per ton, respectively.
Movement in corn is also minor. In the US, the price did not budge from the old levels of $191 per ton. There is also no change in Russia and the price remains at 184 dollars per ton. In France, again exceptionally, the price is up – plus 5 euros to 189 euros per ton.
The price of barley in Ukraine stagnated once again with minimal movement up one dollar to $173 per tonne for delivery in May. Rapeseed of "Euronex" (Euronext), after long and even sensitive fluctuations up and down since March, is now moving down by 1 euro to 450.50 euros per ton.
The Crude Sunflower Oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange experienced some stagnation since the beginning of the year, followed by a slight decline, an uptrend, then a downtrend, and these days May-June delivery swings continued downward with minus $25 to $965 a ton. Refined sugar, however, became the record-breaker with a precipitous drop in quotes for August delivery, falling $59.20 to $568.90 a tonne on the London Stock Exchange.
At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, trade in the "Grain" sub-district remains calm and quotations were mainly from the buyers' side, with the exception of bread wheat, which was offered at BGN 388 per ton, delivered to buyer (DAP), and buyers were at BGN 300 per ton. Forage wheat was in demand from 280 to 290 BGN per ton, and the offers "buy" for oil-yielding sunflower showed a slightly increased interest – from 755 to 770 BGN per ton.
The prices of basic commodities are stable at the same level as the initial prices. Oil in bottles is sold at BGN 2.20 per liter, there is also an offer of yellow peas in big bags of one ton at a starting price of BGN 1,200 per ton.
On the SSB this week there were deals for propane butane gas from BGN 1,010 to BGN 1,080/thousand. l and for metal scrap: ferrous metal scrap in the range of BGN 160 to BGN 210 per ton, copper scrap at BGN 9,000 per ton and aluminum scrap at BGN 1,690 per ton.
