Poland's financial benefit from European Union membership amounts to more than EUR 161 billion, data from the report of the Polish Ministry of Finance on the 20th anniversary of the country's membership in the EU, cited by PAP agency.

Two-thirds of Brussels' financial injections went to modernize the country's energy and transport infrastructure, the remaining funds were distributed as part of the EU's common agricultural policy.

In early March, the European Commission (EC) decided to allocate up to 137 billion euros from the EU budget to Poland in response to the start of reforms to ensure the independence of the country's judiciary. As the EC explains, Poland will receive around EUR 59.8 billion from the Pandemic Recovery Fund and EUR 76.5 billion from the so-called cohesion funds.
