In the last days of May, the prices of many of the main grain commodities on the world grain markets reversed the upward trend in a downward direction, report the experts of the Sofia Stock Exchange (SSB), cited by BTA.

Observers believe that this is due to the earlier start of harvesting of the new wheat crop in some countries, and its prices are dragging down those of other contracts. FOB Chicago bread wheat fell $6 to $263 a tonne for June delivery. In France, wheat rose by 2 euros to 245 euros/ton. In Ukraine, its price rises by 8 dollars to 220 dollars per ton, and in Russia it remains at the level of 232 dollars per ton.

The movement in corn is similar. In the US, the price fell by 4 dollars to 195 dollars per ton, and in France by 4 euros to 205 euros/ton. As with wheat, there is no change in Russia and the price remains at $187 per ton.

The price of barley in Ukraine is $195 per ton for delivery in June, and rapeseed on the Euronext exchange. (Euronext) for delivery in August fell by EUR 1.25 to EUR 478/ton.

Crude sunflower oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange have seen a flurry of swings since the start of the year and for July delivery this week rose $30 to $1,045 a tonne. Refined sugar this week fell $4.30 for August delivery to $540.10 a tonne on the London Stock Exchange.

At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, trade in grain remains calm, with quotations slightly in an upward direction and only on the sellers' side. Bread wheat was offered in large quantities at BGN 388/t, offers "sell" for oilseed sunflower are between BGN 790 and 820/ton. Corn for immediate delivery is available in the range of 350 - 375 BGN/t, and feed barley between 340 - 360 BGN/t.

In the sub-district "Foodstuffs" on the SSB, the prices of basic goods are stable at the same level as the initial prices. Oil in bottles is sold at BGN 2.20/l, as well as unrefined oil at BGN 1,750/ton.

This week, quantities of propane butane gas were sold to the SSB at BGN 1,025/thousand. liters and scrap of ferrous metals in the range from BGN 400 to BGN 510/ton.
