"The system of the US Federal Reserve (FED) kills economic freedom. There is nothing more anti-liberal from the point of view of the meaning of freedom than this system," Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said at a meeting of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPBILF).
Zakharova also emphasized that “the Fed is actually the core of the dollar-oriented global financial system”. “These are IMF data: the share of national government reserves deposited in dollars reaches almost 60%. Although now of course we are seeing a downward trend. For commercial transactions, as was said, according to SWIFT statistics, the dollar part exceeds 80%. That is, the dollar still dominates, one way or another. And in these conditions, what does the Fed do? Manipulates the rate. By making it cheaper to service dollar loans, it regulates the interest rate, she noted. - Why is this done? In the interest of the US economy, keeping it at a level attractive to investors. In fact, this ensures the draining of funds from the whole world.”
According to her, this is not just a “superficial corruption story”. “This is a story that has deep roots in international relations, affecting them in a destructive way. Again legalized theft on an international scale”, she added.
