The month of July began with a decrease in the prices of some basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the exchanges in the country , reports the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) in its weekly bulletin, BTA reported.

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, fell by 0.29 percent during the week to 2,047 points. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,053 points. The base level of ITC - 1,000 points, is from 2005

Cucumbers are increasing in price, with imported ones increasing by 2.1 percent to BGN 2.45 per kilogram, and greenhouse cucumbers by 11.4 percent to BGN 2.74 per kilogram. However, the price of greenhouse tomatoes is lower - by 9 percent to BGN 2.22 per kilogram.

Potatoes became cheaper by 1.7 percent to BGN 1.16 per kilogram, and carrots by 2.4 percent to BGN 1.24 per kilogram. The price of ripe onions is also down by 6.3 percent to BGN 1.19 per kilogram, while that of cabbage is up by 5.1 percent to BGN 0.82 per kilogram.

Imported apples rose in price by 6.9 percent and are traded at BGN 2.01 per kilogram. The price of lemons fell by 1.8 percent and they were traded at BGN 2.74 per kilogram, and bananas - by 1.1 percent to BGN 2.73 per kilogram. Strawberries rose in price by 19.4 percent to BGN 5.30 per kilogram, and cherries by 17.7 percent to BGN 4.13 per kilogram.

Cow cheese drops by 1 percent to BGN 10.89 per kilogram, and "Vitosha" type cheese - by 1.5 percent to BGN 17.17 per kilogram.

The price of yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) increased by 3.4 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.20 for a bucket of 400 grams, while that of fresh milk (3 percent fat content) falls by 4.3 percent to BGN 2.22 per liter.

Chicken meat increased in price by 3 percent and is available at BGN 6.88 per kilogram, while eggs (size M) retain their wholesale price of BGN 0.27 per unit.

The price of rice rose by 1.5 percent to BGN 3.29 per kilogram, and that of lentils fell by 0.9 percent to BGN 4.27 per kilogram. Ripe beans became cheaper by 1.7 percent to BGN 4.09 per kilogram.

Sugar rose in price by 0.5 percent and was traded at BGN 1.96 per kilogram, and oil by 4.3 percent to BGN 2.90 per liter. The price of type 500 flour fell by 4.7 percent to BGN 1.23 per kilogram, while that of cow butter (125 gram package) jumped by 1.5 percent to BGN 2.70 per piece.
