The governments of Japan and Germany are in the final stages of negotiations to establish a special economic security consultation mechanism , reported the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri.
The final agreement is expected to be reached during Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's upcoming visit to Germany, which is scheduled for July 12. The purpose of creating such a mechanism is to coordinate policies to counter economic pressures through trade restrictions. Representatives of the foreign ministries and the ministries of trade of both countries are expected to participate in the consultations. It is highlighted that key issues will be related to the strengthening of semiconductor supply chains as well as artificial intelligence technologies.
