The Ministers of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation Marat Karabaev and Roman Starovoit during a meeting in Moscow discussed the development of the eastern branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor (MTK), the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported.
The countries noted active work in the field of railway transport and emphasis on the further development of air communications between the two countries, as well as the development of transport in the direction of Russian ports. The ministers agreed to continue close contact and strengthen interaction in the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan announced that the republic has signed a road map with Russia, Iran and Turkmenistan for the synchronous development of the potential of the eastern route of the North-South transport corridor for 2024-2025. According to the department, Kazakhstan intends to continue its active participation in the development of the eastern branch of the corridor, which has a high potential for the growth of cargo flows and is the safest and shortest transit to the Indian Ocean .
