According to a representative of the company Dubai Duty Free, which is responsible for the operation of duty-free shops at two airports in the city, payment for purchases in rubles has become possible since August 1. According to him, passengers can use ruble cash to buy goods at most shops at Dubai International Airport.
Some of the shops in the second terminal of the airport still do not accept Russian currency. An employee of one of these stores said that “the function of paying for goods in rubles will appear in the near future after solving technical problems”.
In addition, duty-free shops at Dubai Airport accept cards of the Chinese payment system Union Pay, issued by Russian banks. Maps of the Russian peace system Duty-free shops are not working.
On Saturday, you can buy goods in duty-free shops at the rate of 32.26 rubles for 1 dirham. When paying with a Union Pay card, the price of 1 dirham was 25.19 rubles. The official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of the UAE on Friday, August 2, is 23.25 rubles to 1 dirham.
