Bulgaria will request a suspension of the import of eggs originating from Ukraine at the meeting of the Council of European Union for Agriculture and Fisheries in Brussels.
At this council, our country will be represented by the acting Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Takhov, specifies the BNR.
During their meeting, the agricultural ministers of the member countries are expected to discuss the situation on the agricultural markets as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the insistence of the Poultry Breeders' Association, Bulgaria will request a ban on the import of Ukrainian eggs, Minister Takhov said:
"We cannot do anything without a decision of the European Commission. The first step we have taken is through an ATM regulation – these goods – eggs, we first included them in goods with a higher duty, and now we are taking another step – at the upcoming council I will absolutely demand their ban.
The ministers will also review the second year of the implementation of the strategic plans under the Common Agricultural Policy.
