The US administration is imposing a 100% tariff on foreign cinematography.
“The film industry in America is dying very quickly. Other countries are offering all sorts of incentives to lure our directors and studios away from the US. Hollywood and many other industries in the US are going bankrupt. This is a concerted effort by other states and therefore a threat to national security. Among other things, this is also the dissemination of information and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to immediately begin the process of imposing a 100% tariff on all films entering our country and produced in other countries“, said President Donald Trump.
On April 2, Trump announced the introduction of tariffs on products from 185 countries and territories. Russia is not on this list. The universal tariffs of 10% came into effect on April 5, the individual tariffs on April 9. At the same time, on April 9, the American leader announced that he was suspending additional import duties imposed on a reciprocal basis on a number of countries and territories for 90 days. The White House explained that the pause was related to trade negotiations and that the universal customs tariff of 10% would be in effect during this period.
