Issues of cooperation in the defense industry and the military sphere were among the priorities on the agenda of the talks in Ankara between the presidents of Turkey and Georgia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Mikhail Kavelashvili. The parties intend to increase bilateral trade to 5 billion USD per year, the Turkish leader said.

„Issues of cooperation in the defense industry and the military sphere, which represent a serious potential, were among the main ones on our agenda. I want to reaffirm our unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity,“ Erdogan said at a press conference after talks with Kavelashvili, who arrived in Turkey.

“In recent years, we have achieved the target of 3 billion USD in trade annually, our new target is 5 billion USD“, Erdogan said. According to him, over 200 Turkish companies operate in Georgia, and Turkey's direct investments in the country are approaching 2.5 billion USD.
