To completely solve the problem of water scarcity in Pleven, it will take months, maybe a year, a year and a half. For a temporary solution - weeks, months. This was said by the regional minister Ivan Ivanov in the “Interview in NOVA News”.
"The water shortage is part of the overall picture in the country, which is also related to the drought, the lack of rainfall, underground water sources, as well as the negligence and poor management of the infrastructure in Pleven and Lovech", he said.
Ivanov pointed out that a small part of the additional water in Pleven comes from groundwater, and the majority comes from the canals that the Water and Sewerage Services and “Irrigation Systems” have cleaned.
The minister also said that Lovech and Pleven will be able to take a break from the water regime when there is rainfall to feed the Cherni Osam River, which feeds the water supply system. And for Pleven - of key importance is the rehabilitation of the water transmission network. And he added that work is already underway on this issue.
