At the moment, the government has a clear action plan related to the supply of oil and oil products. This was announced at a briefing at the Council of Ministers by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov.
“The first phase of it is related to inspection and monitoring. Together with the Agency for the Storage of Temporary Stocks, we will discuss and consider all quantities. The second phase is related to preventive measures and activities, which will allow us to involve all interested parties in the conversation and develop a specific plan”, he added.
Stankov noted that the important thing is that the quantities of fuel satisfying the consumption of Bulgarians are provided by the state until the end of this year. He asked their political opponents not to play with the fears of Bulgarian citizens, because, in his words, there is no reason to panic.
According to him, they are also looking at building a common European plan to deal with the situation.
We recall that yesterday (October 23, 2025) the US imposed sanctions on the largest Russian oil companies, including "Lukoil" and "Rosneft", as part of efforts to limit the financing of the war in Ukraine.
In turn, the Minister of Justice - Georgi Georgiev, recalled the importance of the “Lukoil” refinery in Burgas as a site important for Bulgaria's national security. “That is why the Ministry of Interior and the security services have taken additional measures, including ensuring capacity and manpower, as well as any other measures”, he said.
According to him, there is no reason to panic, but the risk assessment must be updated.
