Assoc. Prof. Kiselova: Elections will be held on March 29 or April 19 - 1

The Constitution has provided that after the president resigns, a case will be filed and the Constitutional Court must be convinced that his desire is to leave the post of head of state. He stated it publicly, so the Constitutional Court will file a case within tomorrow and in the coming days we can expect a decision terminating his powers.

This was stated by the MP from the BSP-OL, Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova in "Denyat ON AIR" after Rumen Radev's statement, in which he announced that he would resign as president.

Back in history, we have two similar cases - the resignation of Petar Mladenov, after which the Grand National Assembly elected Zhelyu Zhelev as president, the second case is that of Vice President Blaga Dimitrova.

"According to the constitutional provisions, the Vice President is to continue his mandate. The Vice President must take an oath before the National Assembly in order to have an act of accession. The elections can be on March 29 or April 19. If the Constitutional Court rules on Thursday, there is no obstacle to the oath being taken on Thursday or Friday and the consultations being held next week, so that we can meet the March 29 deadline," Kiselova explained to Bulgaria ON AIR.

Both President Petar Stoyanov and Georgi Parvanov had political ambitions after the end of their mandate, recalled Assoc. Prof. Kiselova.

"From what we heard from Radev's statement, the main emphasis is the fight against the oligarchy and corruption. The interesting moment will be what the clash with political reality looks like. I wish Mr. Radev success, because I believe in his pure intentions, but what it looks like from the outside is not like being inside the political elite. The struggle inside is much more about staying right than achieving your goals," the guest commented.

According to her, the choice of an acting prime minister at the moment should be the one who would create the slightest prerequisites for contesting the election result.

"There were two projects - "Bulgarian Rise" with leader Stefan Yanev, and PP-DB - two attempts through which there is an indirect attempt to influence the political system. What Radev expects is not what is visible from the height of the presidential post of "Dondukov" 2. Either an entity that already has registration will be used, or several entities will form a coalition. Registration with the CEC will be by entities that already exist. He will not be able to register an independent entity," the MP from BSP-OL pointed out.

"There were objections regarding Glavchev - whether it is permissible to encroach on the independence of the Court of Accounts. I have not heard very serious objections about Ms. Margarita Nikolova. Mr. Gyurov is a choice that could create tension in the future. The more cautious Yotova is in her first acts, the better," Assoc. Prof. Kiselova pointed out.
