Sociologists: The government seems to be clearing the field for a player who is standing aside - 1

There is a feeling that the election campaign is already underway, although it should officially begin on March 19. This was stated in “This Morning“ on bTV by sociologist Boryana Dimitrova from “Alpha Research“. According to her, there is a high degree of tension among the political forces, which is a precedent for happening so early before the vote.

“The campaign, on the one hand, is led by the caretaker government, on the other - by the previous rulers, along several lines. The ITN and GERB parties are very strong. On the other hand, however, the government's objective actions themselves - as if clearing the field for a player who stands aside and may turn out to be the winner in the next elections. This battle is currently not bringing dividends to the main parties involved in the battle“, she explained.

According to sociologist Parvan Simeonov from “Myara“ there are 4 factors currently on the political scene – Rumen Radev, PP-DB, Iliyana Yotova and the Western partners.

“Radev, Yotova and PP-DB, realizing that they do not interfere with each other and address different electoral sectors, are vocally or tacitly in sync. Naturally, they distinguish themselves from each other, they owe it to themselves. PP-DB is trying to push away from Radev, this tightens them, at the same time this is good for Radev. By giving Gyurov the mandate and somehow tolerating this government, Yotova gets an opportunity for a surge of votes from the PP-DB in the second round of the presidential elections“, he also said.

Parvanov commented that the Western partners are also satisfied and this can be judged by the ministers of foreign affairs, energy and military. “A political synchronization is underway in Bulgaria, in which both the West and internal forces are working for the total dismantling of power in our country and the “Peevski” model, he pointed out and stated that the big question is whether after the elections the PP-DB and Radev will form a coalition with GERB in order to obtain a constitutional majority.

Boryana Dimitrova explained that the “cleansing“ on the field is conscious and desired by the PP-DB: “I see risk and damage for the PP-DB from what is happening, because most of the blows are focused on them, through the caretaker government, and the dividends are extracted by someone else. One thesis is that they are playing synchronized at the moment in order to achieve future cooperation, but they are making an electoral mistake regarding their own performance in the elections.

She commented that every action of the caretaker government is monitored under a magnifying glass and they would hardly jump over certain limits. She gave the example of the Deputy Prime Minister for Fair Elections Stoil Tsitelkov, who stayed in office for only a day, and the meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs Emil Dechev in a restaurant.
