I deliberately did not comment on the details of the "Petrohan" investigation. It is not right for the Minister of the Interior to comment, because the first thing the opposition would do is accuse me of either politicizing the case or of having prejudged the outcome of the investigation. This was commented to journalists by the former Minister of the Interior and current GERB-SDF MP Daniel Mitov.

"This is not hiding, the only thing I could say at the time is that all versions are being investigated and when the facts and circumstances become clear, then the professionals will come out to speak. And that is exactly what happened. The current Minister Emil Dechev also does not speak on the merits, which is correct. A minister in such a situation during an ongoing investigation should not go into this topic in detail for the simple reason that the investigation itself is ongoing," Mitov said.

"What worries me about the “Petrohan” case is the very system that is being used to get there. Namely, a network of non-governmental organizations that are connected to the PP-DB. Where they are in power, they protect certain non-governmental organizations, embed them in the fabric of the state, delegate state functions to them, and then this dulls the instincts of the institutions," he said.

According to him, the scheme is simple - a network of non-governmental organizations is created, protected by the party in question, which leads to the creation of a parallel NGO state. "When any signals are sent against it, other NGOs immediately get involved and mutual protection begins", Mitov pointed out.

Regarding the measures proposed by the government due to the increase in fuel prices in our country, Mitov said that he could not assess to what extent the proposed measures are correct. "I hope that what is leading to an increase in prices, namely the conflict in the Middle East, will be resolved quickly. The government has obligations to propose measures that will compensate for prices on the Bulgarian market and ensure that there will be guaranteed quantities. All institutions, including regulatory bodies, must assume their functions. What will be the effect of what the government has proposed will be discussed in parliament and will be evident in the market," he said.

The former Interior Minister also commented that there are no direct risks for our country from the conflict in the Middle East, but it affects the overall situation on a global scale. "The rise in oil prices on a global scale leads to an increase in the prices of every single commodity," he said.

Regarding the upcoming elections, Mitov said that there are still lists that are being clarified. He also announced that he will be the leader of the list in the elections in April.
