The Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF) has started preparations for the implementation of the "Easter Basket" initiative in 2026. The goal is to ensure better access for households to basic food products at reasonable prices on the eve of the Easter holidays, the department announced.
The initiative will include traditional products for the holiday - eggs, lamb, kozunac, flour, sugar and other basic food products, dariknews.bg specified. The Ministry is currently working on finalizing the specific scope of products and the implementation mechanism, with the guiding principle remaining the balance between the interests of consumers and the sustainability of Bulgarian producers.
As part of the preparation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is starting to organize meetings with representatives of retail chains, supermarkets and small traders. The goal is to specify the parameters of the initiative and the opportunities for voluntary inclusion of businesses.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food extends an open invitation to all interested traders to join a working meeting, which will be held on April 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the “Small College“ hall in the building of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The meeting is open to all traders – both large chains and small stores that are willing to join the initiative and offer products at affordable prices during the holiday period.
The “Easter Basket“ initiative was launched for the first time in our country last year.
