Toma Bikov with a recommendation to "Progressive Bulgaria": Unpopular reforms with a right profile or failure - 1

Unpopular reforms with a right profile, recommended to “Progressive Bulgaria” GERB-SDF MP Toma Bikov in a declaration on behalf of a group made from the parliamentary rostrum, reported by novini.bg

The other option, in his words, is the failure of Rumen Radev's party.

“Today, in the new realities, with Mr. Radev's full majority, conducting a political dialogue is no longer a necessity. Such a dialogue can only be conducted with the good will of those in power. Today, structural reforms are a necessity, the delay or lack of which will lead to new disappointment in Bulgarian society. If this necessity is not taken into account and does not produce the corresponding concrete political actions by the ruling party, the result will be similar to the result of the unrecognized need for conducting a quality political dialogue over the past 5 years,” he added.
"Over the past 12 years, Bulgaria has been governed by coalition governments, and over the past 5 years, the country has been chronically mired in a political crisis and in the inability of parliamentary forces to provide stable governance. This was happening despite the need to make difficult decisions in an unstable geopolitical environment and a health crisis, the need for reforms in a number of worn-out social systems and against the backdrop of a fiscal policy that perceived budget deficits as normality. In recent years, we have consistently called for raising the level of political debate and have warned that personal attacks, low political culture and scandals do not destroy trust in one or another formation, but in the entire political system and its institutions. In the past parliamentary elections, a vast majority of Bulgarian citizens decided to put an end to the political process in its fragmented coalition form and give a full majority to "Progressive Bulgaria", said Bykov.

He stated that GERB-SDF will be a right-wing conservative, constructive, meaningful and strong opposition that will defend the national interest, the interest of the voters and will exercise systematic parliamentary control over the majority. "We will only support decisions that closely match our election program and reflect the will and desires of our voters", the MP emphasized.
"The election result clearly shows that Bulgarian citizens do not simply give a mandate to govern “Progressive Bulgaria”, but give a broad mandate for deep structural reforms, the scope of which is not limited to the reform of the judiciary, but also to the reform of numerous institutions, systems and public relations. We must emphasize that the vast majority of Bulgarian citizens voted not for “Progressive Bulgaria”, but personally for Mr. Rumen Radev. From today, he will have all the tools in the state to fully fulfill the expectations of a large part of Bulgarian society, without having to take into account coalition partners and any kind of side circumstances. "This is a huge responsibility that requires quick and precise actions, which from today on depend solely on the will of Mr. Radev," the MP also said.
