Miroslav Ivanov: GERB wanted to return the old model to Boyko Borisov - 1

I can't say that we did anything wrong. We started this whole process 10 months ago, with the clear awareness that Bulgaria needs to get out of the series of elections and out of the political crisis. This happened with a cabinet that had to follow clearly defined goals – the Eurozone, Schengen and judicial reform. Extraordinary efforts were made and these goals were achieved. This was stated by the deputy from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) Miroslav Ivanov in the program “More from the day” according to BNT.

„It is easiest to say that GERB are to blame for going to elections. After the elections, there will be new talks, the situation will not change much. The goal of the colleagues from GERB is to form a cabinet without us, because that way it will be easier for them to leave the model that was in power during Borisov's three mandates, he said.

„We have set a direction which, we have not deviated even a millimeter from it – European way and judicial system reform. We believe that this is the only way Bulgaria will get out of the bottom of all the rankings,”, the former chairman of the National Assembly was categorical.

„I don't understand why people are afraid that we will fall into some crises again. I call for a calm tone. I don't see how we will end up in a constitutional crisis. The President must name one of those specified in the Constitution. I do not believe that the heads of these important institutions in the country will allow a constitutional crisis to arise. However, the commitments of this cabinet are to hold fair elections. Mr. Radev has the right to choose an acting prime minister and then he will bear his responsibility. Let's not scare ourselves with apocalyptic predictions. In the end, all the institutions will be the corrective to what this office will do, Ivanov urged.

„It is time to stop this institutional war of recent years, it is not helping anyone. With dialogue and compromises, Bulgaria can get out of the political crisis and achieve concrete results, he believes.

„We entered with the clear concept of keeping our commitments – rotation of prime ministers and change of ministers only if both parties agree. We insisted that a draft document be signed to set the framework for what follows. We wanted everything spelled out in a document with clear commitments and deadlines. Mr. Borisov backed away from the request to spell out the commitments made and ultimatums began to be issued. In a very difficult process mistakes were certainly made, we cannot be without mistakes, he explained.

In his words, there are two moments that mark the negotiations between GERB and PP-DB - they did not want to sign an agreement, later they agreed, but with a change of ministers.

„First of all, Mr. Borisov said today that he is giving us defense and energy. This was resolved 9 months ago, he is not giving anything. He also recalled the gentleman's agreement from which GERB withdrew. Mr. Denkov resigned, but Rosen Zhelyazkov – no”, explained Miroslav Ivanov.

„I call on all Bulgarian citizens to trust their intuition and the facts. The facts show that we were given a 24-hour ultimatum on Sunday night for no apparent reason. There was a week ahead in which the negotiations would continue and the mandate would be fulfilled in an adequate manner. Then, when Mrs. Maria Gabriel brought in the folder with the draft cabinet and most of the ministers were not asked if they agreed, it was shocking for us. "I think that Bulgaria has become a laughing stock in all of Europe, this is a precedent," Ivanov pointed out.
