The shortage of antidiabetic drugs was not overcome by the abolition of paper prescriptions for their writing and dispensing in October last year. This is what the chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Dr. Ivan Madzharov, warned before the BNR in connection with the transition to fully electronic prescribing of antibiotics in our country.
He did not specify whether the trade union would push for exceptions to allow doctors to write an antibiotic on a paper prescription:
"Society will insist, together with us, that there is no chaos in the drug supply system, because there are shortages and the shortages are not due to the fact that there is no electronic prescription.
The e-prescription, at the moment, is needed by certain people simply to collect analysis for their own needs, but not for the needs of society. Let the managers make their decision. At the moment, all over Europe have both mechanisms in use.
