Kornelia Ninova: GERB want to hide Borisov's official cabinet from parliamentary control

„Besides the position of the BSP that we were right about the stupid changes in the Constitution that you tried to ironize, let me remind you that the same position was held by all the judges, prosecutors, lawyers, constitutionalists, lawyers and scientists in Bulgaria in 50 negative opinions on the changes in the Constitution.

So I hope you will at least belatedly recognize the expertise of these people, despite the irony with which you treated”, BSP leader Kornelia Ninova addressed from the parliamentary rostrum to GERB People's Representative Lyuben Dilov-sin.

“To Mr. Cholakov, I am surprised because I know your professional doubts about the rightness of these changes. Do you remember before the elections what your slogan was: “work, work, work”. What did you replace it with today: “rabies, rabies, rabies” – was in the parliament”, she told the until recently chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and deputy of GERB Radomir Cholakov.

And he turned to the entire GERB parliamentary group: “Did you hear what Borisov said yesterday? To the question of who is responsible for the official office, answer – the parliament. You will be scolded for your position today and for denying the role of Parliament in holding the Cabinet to account.“

“It is about two things”, Ninova explained and pointed out: “Today we are discussing some of the fatal consequences of the mistaken change in the Constitution, which concerns the work of the parliament. It is true that the reason is to claim control over
the official offices because of the abuses of the official offices of President Radev.

But what turns out today – GERB want that when an official cabinet is appointed by Radev, there should be control, but when an official cabinet is appointed by Borisov, there should be no control and the parliament should rest.“

Ninova emphasized that the argument that the National Assembly always went on vacation before elections was valid until the constitutional changes were made, which say that the parliament continues to work.

„What's the difference – you jumped against Radev's official offices, but now you have to cover Borisov's official office, for which we also received evidence these days that it is political and partisan“, she pointed out.

And he emphasized that, unlike the GERB, the BSP is consistent in criticizing both President Radev's offices and this – and does not measure with a double standard when it wants to exercise parliamentary control over
the government.

“The argument that the National Assembly will abuse its working time is another blow to parliamentarism in Bulgaria and I don't know if you understand what you are doing. You come out and say: “Parliament better not work because it is harmful.“

And how do you expect the people to respect us and believe in the institution of the National Assembly? What do you expect, apart from pouring additional water into the mill of the collapse of statehood and institutions in Bulgaria”, Cornelia Ninova was categorical.

And he asked: “What prevents us from refraining from populism? What prevents us in the coming days from canceling the liberalization of the electricity market for households for one year – is this populism or a good decision?
I see you will support him – so it's a good decision. You constantly complain that we are late with the laws on PVA and that is why Bulgaria is losing money – what is the problem during this time to pass such laws.

You keep saying that there are several laws we need to pass in order to be fully accepted into Schengen – what prevents you from doing that?“

“There is only one reason and I said it – the office of Boyko Borisov must be covered from scrutiny in the parliament”, concluded Kornelia Ninova.
