Bulgaria has the ambition to go through as many reviews as possible in the OECD committees this year, and I hope that the accession process will be finalized as soon as possible.
This was stated by Dimitar Glavchev at his meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Matthias Korman. The two spoke within the framework of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris.
The acting Prime Minister indicated that our country is ready for intensive negotiations. “We strive to implement the recommendations addressed to us”, said Glavchev.
He pointed out that at the second session of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network, which took place in April, the Bulgarian side confirmed a commitment to form a special parliamentary committee responsible for the discussion and
the adoption of legislation related to the process of our joining the Organization.
Dimitar Glavchev also emphasized Bulgaria's support to the regional initiatives of the OECD and in particular to the Regional Program for South-Eastern Europe. It promotes reforms in the region, with the aim of strengthening the private sector, attracting investment and preparing the countries for EU membership and the implementation of OECD standards.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the readiness of our country for a voluntary financial contribution in support of Ukraine, by concluding an Agreement for participation in the OECD Program for the country. The agreement was ratified by
The National Assembly on April 23 this year.
In the course of the conversation, Glavchev especially thanked Secretary General Matthias Korman for his support and commitment in the process of Bulgaria joining the OECD.
He also highlighted the excellent interaction with the OECD Secretariat and the Committees. Glavchev expressed his confidence that this active dialogue contributes to finding the most appropriate solutions based on the recommendations made.
