The condition of the two young people who survived the serious accident in the center of Plovdiv is improving. The mother of the 22-year-old girl told BNT the good news that today her daughter was operated on and her life is out of danger.
After the meeting with her daughter, Krasimira Uzunova is hopeful and believes that her condition is improving with each passing hour:
"As of today, there is no longer any danger to her life, as if it were a miracle. He had an abdominal operation, I can't tell you exactly, I think the liver was affected and stitched, but I can't tell you the details at the moment."
The 22-year-old is also better, who has also been taken out of the intensive care unit.
Krasimira Uzunova – mother of the surviving girl: "We saw him today, we saw his parents. It is also in good condition. As far as I know it's a little better than my daughter."
On the boulevard where the accident happened, throughout the day people left flowers in memory of the two victims. There are still several balloons at the scene, and according to BNT, the investigators seized a large amount of bottles of paradise gas from the car. At this stage, one can only guess at the average speed at which the 21-year-old driver failed to enter the intersection. The analysis is according to the municipal cameras in the area.
"We can only determine the forward speed from the previous intersection – according to our calculations, it is about 140 km, which means that if in the lower part it moved more slowly, here the speed is quite increased. Supposedly about 180 km", said Georgi Stoilov - director of OP "Organization and control of transport". - Plovdiv.
According to the car racer Kostadin Shterev, the speed was even higher – over 200 km/h before the car entered the dividing strip of the boulevard and hit several trees in succession:
"This speed, to develop it, you develop it easily, but no one takes stock of the fact that they should also stop this speed, limit this speed. From the intersection to this tree, he has no time to react. He crashed head-on without stopping, at this speed survival is almost impossible."
At the intersection through which the car passed before the fatal collision, the traffic lights only worked with a yellow warning signal.
"In this case, we have a very large intersection and the traffic jams that formed after the introduction of this regulation were large. This traffic light never worked, even after its launch it was not launched, which we have agreed with the traffic police and other responsible institutions in the city", said also Georgi Stoilov - director of OP "Organization and control of transport". - Plovdiv.
A speed camera is planned to be installed at the site. Currently, there are 130 cameras in the city at 45 intersections, but software must be installed on them to also record speed. Installation of speed cameras in critical places in the country is also planned by the Ministry of the Interior.
"What I can guarantee is the delivery of 273 cameras, which we have on a total of four orders. One is quite advanced and I hope that within a few months the first 60 will arrive," said Kalin Stoyanov – Acting Minister of the Interior.
