In the first quarter of 2024, the average monthly salary is BGN 2,198 and is increasing compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 with 3.5%. The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered were “Other activities” - with 16.9%, “Administrative and auxiliary activities“ - with 10.2%, and “Financial and insurance activities“ - by 10.0%.

Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the average monthly salary increased by 16.8%, with the largest increase in economic activities:
.„Other activities“ and “Hotel and restaurant industry“ - with 24.4% each,
.„Real Estate Operations“ - with 21.5%
.„Construction“ - by 20.7%.
The economic activities with the highest average monthly remuneration of the persons employed in employment and service legal relationship for the period are:
- “Creation and distribution of information and creative products; tele-messaging“ - BGN 5,252;
- “Financial and insurance activities“ - BGN 3,395;
- “Production and distribution of electrical and thermal energy and of gaseous fuels“ - BGN 3,035.
The lowest paid were those employed in economic activities:
- “Hotel and restaurant industry“ - BGN 1,366;
-„Other activities“ - BGN 1,528;
- “Agriculture, forestry and fisheries“ - BGN 1,543.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in the first quarter of 2024 in the public sector, as well as in the private sector, increased by 16.8%.
In the capital, the average salary exceeds BGN 3,000.
Severe regional differences in pay levels persist. Due to the capital Sofia, the highest average salaries are in the South-West region – 2,760 BGN, although Blagoevgrad, which is also in this region, was reported to have the lowest level for the entire country – 1435 BGN.
The lowest pay levels are in the North West region – 1714 BGN.
