Because of dug-up streets and the incompetence of the waterworks: Residents of Dolna Traka near Varna closed the road to "Golden Sands" - 1

Residents of the village of Dolna Traka near Varna staged a protest for the road to "Golden Sands" due to a protracted plumbing project. Although the pipes have been laid, the streets in the area remain dug up, BNT reported.

"The streets here are small, but they are our only chance to get out onto main roads. The tension was escalated by the fact that all the streets were excavated at the same time and were not completed for long periods of time. At the moment, normal movement on these streets is not possible, everything is covered in dust, and when it rains - it's mud," said Bilyana Mihailova, a local resident.

Potholes and puddles form on the gravel streets due to passing cars.

"We understand this is good for our neighborhood, but we want to see it completed, and we want to know when which street will be dug up so we can look for an alternate route. We want, when the municipality gives permission to the plumbing company to close and dig up streets, to take into account whether there is actually a bypass route", urged Mihailova.

Yesterday, residents of the area were at a meeting in the municipality, where their requests were heard and they were promised that part of the streets would be restored by June 15.

The municipality cannot influence much in this case, as the project is financed by the Ministry of the Environment, said Varna Deputy Mayor Plamen Kitipov.

"We are grateful for this civil protest, as it gives us additional arguments to VK to impose our demands. Yesterday, at the meeting with the protesters, we received schedules for the implementation of each section and maps, which we will publish on the website of the municipality," Kitipov said.

VaK-Varna manager Veselin Rusev is personally committed to normalizing the situation in the coming weeks.

"I understand the inconvenience we have caused, but within 30-45 days I am committed to improving the organization and strictly monitoring the quality. Information about the repairs will also be published on the Waterworks website, he said.
