Georgi Angelov: Regulators can raise inflation again by raising electricity and heating prices - 1

During the spring months, it is normal to notice a slight deflation. This is a seasonal effect, not a trend. There is a slowdown in inflation, wholesale prices are slowly falling. That's why regulators are very important - through them the tendency to reduce inflation can be killed by raising heating and electricity prices.

This was stated by Georgi Angelov, senior economist at “Open Society”, on Nova TV.

"In some months, the price on the regulated market is higher than that on the stock exchange. Thus it is used as a piggy bank for other purposes. The regulator must think about the interest of the end user, so in the case of a prolonged decline in the values of the stock exchanges, this must also be felt among households, he said.

In his words, the prices of oil, electricity and gas are going down on the international markets. "Energy Security Fund" should be filled through contributions, and instead everyone wants to transfer to the regulated market for residential consumers. Most likely, the proposal for a large reduction in heating will not happen. There are appetites to throw expenses at households", Angelov emphasized.

Regarding the admission of Bulgaria to the Eurozone, the economist declared himself categorically "for". "Countries with small currencies of their own suffer the most in major financial crises. We need at least one year of political stability to enter the Eurozone," he noted.
