President Rumen Radev visited the educational and research center “Mathias Corvinus Collegium” in the Hungarian capital Budapest and met with representatives of its leadership, the press office of the head of state announced, BTA reported.

He was welcomed by Director General Dr. Zoltan Salaj, who presented the history, mission, projects, research program and international activities of the “Mathias Corvinus Collegium”. The center builds on school and university curricula by covering students of different ages and students.

A number of research programs are profiled in which students and PhD students develop current topics. The center has its own publishing house and attracts professors in various fields from all over the world. Established in 1996, “Mathias Corvinus Collegium“ has established itself as a prestigious educational institution, which today operates in 27 locations and has 7,600 students.

„Education is a fundamental factor for the well-being of society and must be a priority of every country in order to develop successfully,” said President Rumen Radev during the meeting. According to him, only by knowing their history, culture and traditions, young people can develop as worthy citizens of their country and Europeans at the same time. It is important that education promotes and develops critical thinking and develops skills and virtues that help young people cope with the challenges around them, the president added.

Rumen Radev visited the educational center on the second day of his visit to Hungary, where he is at the invitation of his Hungarian colleague Tamas Shuyok.

Yesterday, the Bulgarian head of state and Shuyok opened a Bulgarian educational and cultural center, built with the cooperation of the two countries. The new building will house the educational and cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations of the Bulgarian community. Opposite the newly built building is the Bulgarian Cultural House, and on the plot next to it – The Bulgarian Orthodox Church “St. St. Cyril and Methodius“.

With the construction of the new Bulgarian center, the centuries-old dream of the Bulgarians in Hungary is realized – to gather the pillars of the Bulgarian community in one place. The foundation stone was laid on March 3, 2022, and the first sod was laid on May 17, 2022. Construction took two years.
