A new expressway will connect Greece with Bulgaria. The project is a priority for transport links in the European Union, Staikouras said.
The relationship between Xanthi and Rudozem is about to end. On Greek territory, the section is 8 kilometers. The European Union also participates in the financing, the Greek Minister of Transport said at a meeting with the municipal leadership of Xanthi.
The Greek contractor of the site from the Bulgarian border to the village of Dimario reports that it is a matter of days before the construction works are completed.
The Greek media adds that on the Bulgarian side, all procedures have been completed for the opening of the Rudozem - Xanthi border crossing. Motor vehicles up to 3.5 tons will pass through it.
The connection will be beneficial for trade and tourism in both countries, Greek media emphasize in their comments, reports BNR.
