Vice-president Iliana Yotova commented on the issue with the UN resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, quoted from BNT.
She is not sure that there was an attempt by acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dimitar Glavchev to change Bulgaria's position. And he thinks that an extraordinary session of the parliament makes sense.
Yesterday, the caretaker government announced that Bulgaria has a consistent and unchanged position in recognizing the victims of Srebrenica, and the leaked documents are only part of working correspondence.
"For me, the clearest option is to call the Minister of Foreign Affairs to a closed session in the parliamentary committee on foreign policy, as there are different interpretations, and to see all the correspondence with our representative at the UN, to avoid any doubts that Bulgaria has double standards in its foreign policy. We want to see all the communication that was sent to Washington - what were the considerations, the arguments and what was the final decision that came from Bulgaria," Iliana Yotova said.
