We saved the Oncology Center in Shumen from dismemberment and subsequent liquidation! This was stated by the leader of Solidarna Bulgaria in Shumen, Maya Manolova, in a session hall, minutes after it became clear that the manager of the best health facility in the region will not be replaced, reports the formation's press center.
Yesterday, the municipal council in the city supported the mayor's report for the release of the manager of the Complex Oncology Center Dr. Svilen Arnaudov, although there were no reasons for the removal of the head of the best oncology hospital in the Northeast. That is why today Maya Manolova arrived urgently to the ongoing second day session and entered a session hall with posters.
Manolova pointed out to the lawyers from the legal commission that the decision to replace the manager of the Oncocenter violates not one, but at least 10 laws and regulations - the Commercial Law, the Law on Local Self-Government, the Law on Public Enterprises, the Law on Medical Institutions and several ordinances passed by the same municipal councillors
„The decision of the municipal council in Shumen to replace the current manager of the Cancer Center and to appoint a new one is shameful and illegal. The goal is transparent and clear, and was recorded by the mayor in his report: Leasing parts of the Oncocenter, understand radiotherapy, and for subsequent privatization. The mayor called the start of this sale a “technical error”. No, for me, for Solidarna Bulgaria and for the citizens of Shumen, the fate of 10,000 cancer patients who are being treated at the Oncocenter in Shumen cannot be a technical error!“, commented Manolova
She explained that she did everything possible to prevent the illegal decision through dialogue. „I met with the mayor, presented arguments, met with municipal councilors. And because I have exhausted all other possibilities, today I came here together with citizens to raise posters and call on Boyko Borisov and Kornelia Ninova to see their advisers. Because they have been here for the last few days and they cannot help but know about the problem with the Cancer Center as well as the behavior of their advisers. "Yesterday's vote incriminates Borisov and Ninova in an assembly in Shumen, incriminates them in participation in the liquidation of the Oncocenter and in tacit agreement regarding the allegations that it is a huge commission," said Maya Manolova
She pointed out that the most profitable part of the Oncocenter is the radiation therapy department, which realizes a monthly turnover of BGN 600-700,000. Radiotherapy sustains the remaining parts of the Oncocenter, and the moment the winning part is removed, the hospital is condemned to destruction. But apparently the ideologues of the attempt to privatize radiotherapy are not interested in the fate of cancer patients“, commented Manolova with anger< /p>
„We succeeded with posters in the hall, with the indictment of Borisov and Ninova, and thanks to some of the councilors who do not think with their party books, to make the assembly reconsider its decision. Maybe this is just a postponement. But we will be here in a few months, regardless of whether I become a People's Representative from Shumen. I will be here and together with civil organizations we will not allow this shameful circus that endangers sick patients to happen again!, Maya Manolova promised
She pointed out that this is not a political action, although it is taking place during an election campaign. “This is a civil action. Literally in one day, we collected 1,000 signatures among Shumen residents to save the Oncodispanera and in defense of the current manager. This is a civil action”, Maya Manolova is categorical.
The leader of Solidarna Bulgaria in Shumen explained that from the moment it became clear that she would be at the top of the lists in the city, many people approached her with a request to save the Oncocenter. “And thanks to the citizens who were in the session hall both yesterday and today, we managed to make the councilors reconsider their decision. But residents of Shumen should be aware that the group of municipal councilors from GERB and BSP were ready to liquidate the Oncology Center in the name of economic interests! The assembly in Shumen has another dimension, and God forbid it multiply in the next parliament!, warned Maya Manolova.
