Who cut the brakes on an 87-ton locomotive and turned it into an uncontrollable bomb? - 1

Vandals smashed the window of a locomotive and cut its brakes. The machine is currently in the locomotive depot in Mezdra, bTV reported.

An 87-ton machine was at the station in Lom. On the night of June 1st, the windshield was broken. Five hoses from the brake system were cut.

„The inspections of the locomotive will continue. The locomotive was supposed to drive the first passenger train from Lom to Brusartsi. While raising the locomotive, the brigade notices the broken glass. The hoses were cut, explained engineer Elenko Kirkov, head of the region.

Three hoses for the wagon brakes and two for the machine were cut.

„They are the most dangerous. They leave the locomotive without any brakes and it becomes an uncontrollable 87-ton machine. If we had set out to hook the machine to the carriages, the incident at the Central Station would have looked like child's play. There would have been a lot of damage,”, he is emphatic.

„One locomotive with cut brakes is like running two buses without brakes and letting them roll. I have been in the rail system since 1997. This is the first time such a thing has happened to me – to engage the braking system. I haven't seen it in the reports either. This thing is a death sentence for the locomotive brigade and passengers”, added Elenko Kirkov.

By “old habit” the locomotive brigade inspected the machine before the train departed. It was then discovered that the hoses had been cut. For now, the perpetrators remain unknown.
