Residual damage to the contact network in Ruse is still being repaired. There, the lightning cut off the power supply to part of the trolleybus network and confused the timetable of the city transport, BNT recalled.
One of the busiest intersections in the city remained without traffic lights. Damage to the contact network is worth BGN 40,000. The accident has been repaired, traffic is normalized. This was stated by the executive director of the municipal transport in Ruse, Alexander Georgiev:
"We have very good grid grounding, we have an additional surge protection system. Thanks to this double insurance, the damage is limited to such a small radius of about 100 meters. The trolleybus is one of the safest vehicles. There is no case in the last 50-60 years that a passenger has died in a trolleybus due to an electric shock."
